1 Samsung ARM Linux Overview 2 ========================== 3 4Introduction 5------------ 6 7 The Samsung range of ARM SoCs spans many similar devices, from the initial 8 ARM9 through to the newest ARM cores. This document shows an overview of 9 the current kernel support, how to use it and where to find the code 10 that supports this. 11 12 The currently supported SoCs are: 13 14 - S3C24XX: See Documentation/arm/Samsung-S3C24XX/Overview.txt for full list 15 - S3C64XX: S3C6400 and S3C6410 16 - S5P6440 17 - S5PC100 18 - S5PC110 / S5PV210 19 20 21S3C24XX Systems 22--------------- 23 24 There is still documentation in Documnetation/arm/Samsung-S3C24XX/ which 25 deals with the architecture and drivers specific to these devices. 26 27 See Documentation/arm/Samsung-S3C24XX/Overview.txt for more information 28 on the implementation details and specific support. 29 30 31Configuration 32------------- 33 34 A number of configurations are supplied, as there is no current way of 35 unifying all the SoCs into one kernel. 36 37 s5p6440_defconfig - S5P6440 specific default configuration 38 s5pc100_defconfig - S5PC100 specific default configuration 39 s5pc110_defconfig - S5PC110 specific default configuration 40 s5pv210_defconfig - S5PV210 specific default configuration 41 42 43Layout 44------ 45 46 The directory layout is currently being restructured, and consists of 47 several platform directories and then the machine specific directories 48 of the CPUs being built for. 49 50 plat-samsung provides the base for all the implementations, and is the 51 last in the line of include directories that are processed for the build 52 specific information. It contains the base clock, GPIO and device definitions 53 to get the system running. 54 55 plat-s3c24xx is for s3c24xx specific builds, see the S3C24XX docs. 56 57 plat-s5p is for s5p specific builds, and contains common support for the 58 S5P specific systems. Not all S5Ps use all the features in this directory 59 due to differences in the hardware. 60 61 62Layout changes 63-------------- 64 65 The old plat-s3c and plat-s5pc1xx directories have been removed, with 66 support moved to either plat-samsung or plat-s5p as necessary. These moves 67 where to simplify the include and dependency issues involved with having 68 so many different platform directories. 69 70 It was decided to remove plat-s5pc1xx as some of the support was already 71 in plat-s5p or plat-samsung, with the S5PC110 support added with S5PV210 72 the only user was the S5PC100. The S5PC100 specific items where moved to 73 arch/arm/mach-s5pc100. 74 75 76 77 78Port Contributors 79----------------- 80 81 Ben Dooks (BJD) 82 Vincent Sanders 83 Herbert Potzl 84 Arnaud Patard (RTP) 85 Roc Wu 86 Klaus Fetscher 87 Dimitry Andric 88 Shannon Holland 89 Guillaume Gourat (NexVision) 90 Christer Weinigel (wingel) (Acer N30) 91 Lucas Correia Villa Real (S3C2400 port) 92 93 94Document Author 95--------------- 96 97Copyright 2009-2010 Ben Dooks <ben-linux@fluff.org> 98
